IPL photo rejuvenation is a specialist treatment that helps to target a myriad of skin concerns. A leading treatment is offered here at our Knightsbridge aesthetic clinic, find out more about it and how it could benefit your skin – as well as your confidence.
What is IPL photo rejuvenation?
IPL stands for “intense pulsed light”. As such, it’s a laser-based skin treatment. It works by first targeting skin cells, then directing heat energy at them which stimulates renewal and enhances the appearance of the skin. We proudly offer the treatment here at our Knightsbridge aesthetic clinic.
What is IPL photo rejuvenation used for?
The treatment can be used for a variety of concerns:
– Ageing: this could include fine lines and wrinkles and loss of radiance
– Pigmentation: this addresses uneven skin tone and conditions like rosacea
– Blemishes: this covers concerns like pore size, thread veins and acne
Is IPL treatment safe?
Absolutely. We would never offer an unsafe treatment, not fit for purpose, or not something we would have ourselves. Intense pulsed light therapy has had extensive testing and has a long history of benefits.
How long does intense pulsed light therapy take?
Typical treatment time at our Knightsbridge aesthetic clinic is 30-45 minutes, though it does depend on your skin age and type; treated areas; targeted concerns; and whether you have had treatment previously. In some cases, a course of IPL treatments is recommended for best results.
How long does IPL last?
You could experience results for 6 months to 1 year, however it does vary. We would also recommend a treatment programme to ensure skin is treated when needed, to prevent a dip in your results. Our team in Knightsbridge can talk to you about this.
What about pain and side effects?
IPL treatment may cause temporary redness and sensitivity in your skin as it renews itself, however, this should pass in a matter of days to weeks. Pain relief is not generally needed for the treatment itself, as most people we treat in Knightsbridge only experience a tingling sensation or gentle warming of the skin. Post-treatment, again, pain relief isn’t usually required.
What else do I need to know?
We recommend contacting our Knightsbridge aesthetic clinic to book a consultation with our team. Our doctors can then talk you through the treatment in more detail, and determine if it’s right for you.
